Our experience and understanding of wind technology and economics lead us to believe that now is the time to increase our presence in wind power. We aim to grow our business from 30 MW today to over 450 MW in the next three years. Our aspiration is to become one of the leading wind developers worldwide by 2015.
BP has distinctive opportunities to achieve both its three-year commitment and 10-year aspiration thanks to its land ownership in the US. We have begun a series of feasibility studies at these sites, many of them located in parts of the US with ideal wind conditions. We plan to begin construction on the first large wind farm in 2007. The scale of these new wind farms is likely to be around 10 times the size of the ones we have built in Europe.
