Today's business
Solar is currently our largest renewable business.
Today, we work in approximately 100 countries. We cover the whole spectrum, right from designing and manufacturing solar electric systems, through to marketing them to our customers across residential, commercial and industrial sectors. We currently manufacture and market more than 100 MW of cells and modules every year in Spain, US and Australia and we have partnerships in cell and module assembly in India.
Some recent highlights:
- In 2004, we opened a 4 MW solar farm - one of the largest in the world - near Merseburg, Germany, which supplies enough power to meet the needs of 1,000 average households.
- In California, our Solar Home Solutions are now more widely available than ever, thanks to our partnership with the home improvement company, Home Depot.
- In Europe, we market one of the most powerful solar modules on the market. The latest Saturn module will deliver 200 W of power.
- In 2004, we completed a $39mn Malaysian project, funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, to supply more than 13,000 solar systems to remote communities situated in dense tropical rainforests, high mountain ridges and flood prone river deltas.
